Born in Tokyo 1967.
Since her striking debut piece Jiro Miyata; a life size business man robot which crawled on the street in 1994, the focus of her work reflects the role of capitalism in our daily life and the hypocritical image of corporate culture. She has been based in NY since her participation as an artist in residence in the program at P.S.1 in 1996.
Some solo exhibitions include Inside Track, Deitch Projects, New York(2004), Horizons, Swiss Institute, New York(2004) as well as recent group shows such as Now Japan Kunsthal KAdE Amersfoort, Netherland(2013), Thermocline of Art - New Asian Waves -, ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany(2007), All About Laughter Mori Art Museum, Tokyo(2007), Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju, South Korea(2004).
